The British Veterinary Association (BVA) recently reported that the prevalence of ticks in dogs in Great Britain is higher than expected and that it is important to remember to treat your dog for ticks. It is estimated that ticks infest up to 15% of dogs in the UK at any one time including species normally only found in Continental Europe. If you are planning on using the Pet Passport scheme this year to take your dog(s) abroad, then speak to your vet about tick treatment or visit the BVA Animal Welfare Foundation website and look for their leaflet - "Taking your pets abroad" Happy Holidays |
